According to the experts, the Kenai Peninsula "has it all". Mountains, fishing, kayaking, bear viewing, and of course the iconic glaciers of Alaska. One of the popular day trips that guests at Aspen Hollow Lodging enjoy is taking a Glacier Cruise out of Seward, Alaska to see the sights of Resurrection Bay and the Kenai Fjords National Park.

There are a number of cruise charter operators that anchor in the harbor in Seward, each offering similar, but uniquely different features with their half or full day tours.

Major Marine Tours is one of these. They pride themselves on tours fully narrated by an actual Park Ranger.

Another cruise to consider is the one offered by Kenai Fjords Tours. Their catamarans take you to an exclusive island location where you will be treated to a salmon and prime rib dinner at their private day lodge. It is very scenic and every time we have made the stop, we have spotted both Tufted Puffins and Sea Otters (see photo below!) bobbing in the water surrounding Fox Island.

With either tour, you will see many types of birds, as well as a good likelyhood to spot Grey Whales during their migration, or the distinct black and white bodies of the area's Orca Whales, and even endangered Stellar Sea Lions.  Glaciers surround the bay, and you can go on deck to get great photos.
