If you prefer to shorten your drive time and get to the Kenai Peninsula a little faster, book your travel all the way through to Kenai (airport code ENA). Currently two commuter carriers offer regular hourly, or bi-hourly flights between Anchorage and Kenai: ERA Airlines which is a code share mileage partner, and Grant Aviation This is a scenic 20 minute flight.

The 30 mile drive from Kenai takes you along the edge of Cook Inlet, overlooking such sights as the Mt. Redoubt volcano, and the snowcapped peaks of Mt.
